My name is Kristen Hannum, and I’m a freelance journalist and editor. My writing website is at kristenhannum.com
My articles have won two dozen awards, most of them national awards.
I was an editor and reporter on staff at The Catholic Sentinel, the Archdiocese of Portland’s newspaper (that’s Oregon, not Maine), from 1988 to 2004. I proofed and edited thousands of articles there, and also worked with writers, helping them develop their articles.
Since moving to Denver, I’ve done more freelance editing, work that has included working on New York Times bestselling books. My most favorite recent project was working with Ben Teague, a construction litigation specialist, on his first book: Damaged: What You Need To Know About Construction Litigation and How To Avoid It.
I’ve also worked with nonprofits and businesses on their website content; with fiction writers on short stories and novels; with businesses on annual reports and marketing copy; with professionals writing articles for trade journals; with academics on journal articles; with students on assignments; and much more.
Everyone needs an editor!
